We’re doing better overall, even if we have a few less dollars in our pockets. Those findings appear in a recently published report by the Social Science Research Council who use a “human development index” to measure their findings.
The index is rather simple, consisting of 3 parts; lifespan, longevity and finances. While we’ve given up about 2K/yr in median income over the last decade we’ve increased lifespan as well as the level of education in our society. Bloomberg recently featured these findings in a recent article here and you can dig into the index and its components here. Finally the report can be accessed here. You may want to take the quiz and see how you fare personally by using their Well-O-Meter.
Now just where does “early to bed, early to rise” fit in?
